Why buy volume from Cactus

Built for buyers who need more than one

Cactus Containers is a Texas-owned container supplier with yards in Decatur, Amarillo and Midland. We have delivered 7,000+ containers, we grade every unit honestly before it is sold, and we handle multi-unit orders for self-storage operators, developers, contractors and property owners as one order with one point of contact — not as a stack of separate retail sales.

Pricing on a volume order is negotiated case by case, so the fastest path to a number is a phone call to the yard nearest your site.

Three Texas yards

Decatur, Amarillo and Midland. Your order ships from whichever yard sits closest to your site, which keeps the haul — and the freight on it — shorter.

7,000+ containers delivered

This is not a side line for us. Moving steel to Texas job sites, ranches, yards and facilities is the whole business.

Condition-graded inventory

Used, multi-trip and one-trip are graded and described honestly, so the units that show up match what you agreed to buy. Walk the yard and pick them yourself if you'd rather.

Coordinated multi-unit delivery

Loads are sequenced with your site contact so units land in the order your layout needs them, placed on the pad by tilt-bed truck.

One point of contact

The person who quotes your order is the person who books the trucks and answers the phone on delivery day. No ticket queue, no handoffs.

Custom fabrication in-house

If units need modification work — doors, windows, insulation, electrical, HVAC, paint, multi-container builds — that is done in-house by our own crew and scoped per project.

The line-up

What we can supply

The container types facility buyers ask for most, in used and one-trip condition. Availability moves with the yard, so confirm the current mix on the call.

No prices published · quoted per order
20 ft

Used 20' Standard

The workhorse small unit. Used grade — the most economical way to put a lot of doors on a lot of pads.

20 ft

1-Trip 20' Standard

Same footprint, near-new steel. Where the units front a road or a customer walks past them every day.

40 ft

Used 40' Standard

Double the length per pad and per delivery load. The usual pick when the site plan favours long runs.

40 ft high cube

Used 40' High Cube

A foot more interior height than a 40 ft standard, for tenants storing tall items.

40 ft high cube

Multi-Trip 40' High Cube

2021–2022 model steel that has made a couple of trips. The middle grade between used and one-trip.

40 ft high cube

1-Trip 40' High Cube

The best-looking 40 ft on the lot. For facilities selling on appearance as much as on square footage.

Condition grades

How we grade the steel

Honest grading matters more on a volume order than on a single container, because you are buying units you have not personally opened. Here is exactly what each grade means at our yards.

UsedCan/will have some rust, patches, imperfections, dents, and tough-opening doors due to use and age (15–20 years).
Multi-tripMay have some small/medium dents and slight scratches from a couple of trips. 2021–2022 model.
One-tripMay have some small dents and slight scratches from one time of use/transportation.

How it works

How a multi-unit order goes

Four steps, and the first one is a phone call.

STEP 01

Call the nearest yard

Give us the site location, how many units you're after, the sizes and the condition you have in mind. Rough numbers are fine to start.

STEP 02

Walk the yard, pick the grade

You're welcome to come out and look at the steel yourself before you commit — most volume buyers do, and many end up mixing grades.

STEP 03

One quote for the whole order

Quantity, condition mix and delivery all land in a single quoted number for the order — not a retail price list with a discount stapled to it.

STEP 04

Coordinated delivery

We sequence the loads with your site contact and place each unit on the pad by tilt-bed truck. Level, firm ground and truck access are all we need.

Volume pricing

How multi-unit pricing works

There is no published bulk price list, and no fixed volume discount. Every multi-unit order is quoted individually, because the right number depends on what you're actually buying and where it has to go.

That is not us being cagey — it is why calling is worth your time. Give the yard the shape of the order and you'll get a real number for it.

QuantityHow many units, and whether they go out together or in phases as the facility builds out.
Condition mixUsed, multi-trip and one-trip price differently. Plenty of operators mix grades across a site.
Size mix20 ft, 40 ft and 40 ft high cube each carry their own cost and their own load math on delivery.
DeliveryDistance from the yard to your site, and how the loads have to be sequenced once they get there.

Rent-to-own is available through our partner, Rental Partners, if that structure suits the project better than buying outright — see how rent-to-own works or raise it on the call. Storage units qualify as standard; any container can go rent-to-own, including ones carrying basic modifications. If you have us wire a unit or plumb it, that particular unit becomes buy-outright — here's the eligibility rule in full.

Sizes & dimensions

Container size reference

Standard ISO exterior dimensions for the three sizes facility buyers plan around. Useful when you're laying out pads and drive aisles.

Operator questions

Bulk container FAQs

The things facility operators, developers and contractors ask us first.

Do you sell shipping containers in bulk?
Yes. Cactus Containers sells shipping containers in volume to self-storage facility operators, developers, contractors and property owners. Multi-unit orders are handled by the yard nearest your site — Decatur (940) 291-2797, Amarillo (806) 557-3508 or Midland (432) 423-2507 — and you deal with one person from the first call through delivery.
Can you deliver multiple containers to one site?
Yes. Multi-unit deliveries are coordinated from the yard nearest your site in Decatur, Amarillo or Midland, Texas. Containers are placed by tilt-bed truck, so each drop point needs reasonably level, firm ground and room for the truck to back in and tilt. Delivery sequencing and scheduling are worked out with the yard on the phone — call and we'll build the schedule around your site.
What condition options are there for storage units?
Every container is condition-graded before it is sold. Used units can and will have some rust, patches, imperfections, dents and tough-opening doors due to use and age (15–20 years). Multi-trip units may have some small/medium dents and slight scratches from a couple of trips, and are 2021–2022 models. One-trip units may have some small dents and slight scratches from one time of use/transportation. Most facility buyers mix grades, and you're welcome to walk the yard and pick the units yourself.
How is pricing set on a multi-unit container order?
Volume pricing is quoted individually. The number depends on how many units you need, the condition and size mix, and how far the delivery runs from the yard — so there is no published bulk price list. Call the yard nearest your site and we'll price the whole order for you.
What container sizes work best for self-storage units?
We supply 20 ft standard, 40 ft standard and 40 ft high cube containers in used and one-trip condition. A 20 ft standard is 20' × 8' × 8'6" (about 1,170 cu ft), a 40 ft standard is 40' × 8' × 8'6" (about 2,390 cu ft), and a 40 ft high cube adds a foot of height at 9'6" (about 2,694 cu ft). Which mix suits your site plan is worth a phone call — see the size reference table above.
Can containers be modified for a self-storage facility?
Yes. Custom fabrication is done in-house by our own crew — doors, windows, insulation, electrical, HVAC, paint and multi-container builds. Modification work on a volume order is scoped and quoted per project, so describe what you have in mind on the call.
